Our speakers will discuss aspects of facility security, highlighting techniques that bad actors may use to defeat technology-based security measures such as card readers and ways to mitigate risks associated with technology reliance. They will also include suggested practices to evaluate and harden the security perimeter of a facility.

Babak Javadi Babak is a noted member of the physical security community, well-recognized among both professional circles (due to the work The CORE Group) as well as in the hacker world (as the President of TOOOL, The Open Organisation Of Lockpickers). His first foray into the world of physical security was in the third grade, where he was sent to detention for showing another student how to disassemble the doorknob on the classroom supply closet. Babak is an integral part of the numerous lock-picking workshops, training sessions, and games that are seen at annual events like DEFCON, ShmooCon, DeepSec, NotACon, QuahogCon, HOPE, and Maker Faires across the country. He likes spicy food and lead-free small arms ammunition.
Timothy Bryant Tim started in the medical field as an Emergency Medical Technician, and has worked in casino gaming and private security for over 20 years. Tim currently holds a BA in Business Management and a MA in Psychology and is a Senior Master Instructor for defensive tactics with Controlled F.O.R.C.E. Tim has a wealth of knowledge regarding physical security, including best practices for hardening the security perimeter of a facility.
